Last week we received several emails and calls of concern. Was the Almanac no more? The news was in the Globe, the BBC, ABC and exchanged between idling Ford-150s on back roads across North America. We wanted to let you know that it’s not us!
While the Farmers’ Almanac was always reliable for weather predictions, full moon dates and folklore, no one would have predicted that it would cease publication after 208 years. The Old Farmer’s Almanac, with its signature pale yellow cover, began publication before that, in 1792, and it’s still purring and plowing through like a John Deere. We’re right behind, following those legendary furrows!
In 2026, Harrowsmith will be celebrating 50 years–our first almanac was published in 2007. The news of the Farmer’s Almanac ending a 208-year run is a reminder that your dedicated readership matters.
